Two new teachers greeted students at the Faulkton Area Schools this year when classes began Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Falyn Hempel is not new to the Faulkton School District, however is new this year as the Agriculture education teacher and FFA Advisor.
She worked for SDSU Extension for almost 7 years, then recently for the Animal Health Center in Faulkton for 3 years.
Falyn was born and raised in Faulkton and graduated in 2005 and obtained her degree in Dec. 2009 with a Major in Agriculture Education and a minor in Animal Science from SDSU.
She married Perry Hempel who is originally from Kimball and has two boys, Micheal and Tre and are expecting their first child together the end of September.
Hempels hobbies include spending time at the farm, especially during the spring with all the new baby calves and lambs running around. Spring and Summer also mean planting a garden with the whole family, and canning with my mom. I love volunteering to help kids learn how to show livestock, and helping with the 4-H program. I also like to go hunting with my husband Perry, as well as camping with friends and family during the summers. I have recently started dabbling with learning photography. Advocating for kids and agriculture is also important to Perry and I, so this spring we set out on a new adventure, and raised pheasant chicks that we released back to wild to help sustain the population better after a hard few years on them.
Lexi Olinger is new to Faulkton school district as one of our first grade teachers. She is from Wessington Springs where she also graduated. She went to SDSU and graduated from there in 2019 with the degree of Early Childhood Education, Specil Education endorsement, and Elementary Education Certification.
Previous employment was a early Childhood Special Education Teacher in Huron for 1 year.
Lexi will be getting married to Riley Johnsen August of 2021. In her free time she likes gardening, reading and baking.
