State grant helps fund Faulkton industrial park
July 5, 2016
Grant funds from the South Dakota State Board of Economic Development will be used to develop an industrial park in Faulkton, SD, it was announced on June 14th.
Trevor Cramer, Economic Development Director for Faulkton Area Economic Development Corporation, said a $384,000.00 grant approved by the State Board of Economic Development will provide half the money necessary to install public infrastructure for a new industrial park east of Faulkton on U.S. Highway 212.
"It's a really great location," Cramer said of the 32-acre industrial park. Now that the state grant has been awarded, he said, plans can move forward to secure the remaining funds needed for the roads within the industrial park, as well as water and sewer lines.
The industrial park will be divided into 11 lots, he said, and one business is interested in purchasing four lots. The business would be new to Faulkton, but details on the move have not been finalized, so the name of the business is not being disclosed at this time.
"It's pretty huge for our community," Cramer said of this new company. "They've been someone wanting to come for years, but they didn't have a place. Now we'll have a place for them."
