Farmers' knowledge a thing to be respected, admired

Editor’s note: American News contributor John Papendick is spending his summer helping on the family farm in Faulk County. He is writing about his adventures in a series of columns.

We put it in mud, and now we are taking it out in mud.

So say some Faulk County farmers this fall when talking about their crops.

This spring, there was a lot of rain. That led to delays as farmers had to wait until it was dry enough to put in their crops. (For you city folk, think about mowing or raking your lawn after a rain. Doesn’t make much sense, right?)
