As of Saturday, April 1 the Burger Shack has changed ownership. Melanie Bobby of Aberdeen has purchased the business.

Bobby is originally from Ipswich, and has four sons, Devin, 25, Riley, 19, Joshua, 16 and Jaxson, 6. Bobby will keep the business as a family run business and all employees will retain their jobs. She will however be looking for an assistant manager.

Plans are to have a grand opening on Saturday, July 1st during Faulkton’s Wild West Days and All School Reunion this year.

Bobby stated she will be keeping the menu as is and that Hoke will be a consultant for the time being until Bobby gets accustomed the the business. She also welcomes suggestions and feed back from the customers. Her plans are to eventually move to Faulkton.

“I love the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere of Faulkton. You just can’t beat a small town,” Bobby commented. “I also plan to start a scholarship program for high achieving seniors at the Faulkton School District in the foreseeable future,” she continued.

It has been 13 years since the Burger Shack started, under the ownership of Marvel Hustead. Marvel sold the business to Hoke in 2009, and the addition was added in 2014.

“I am really thankful I found a buyer who will keep the business as is. I thank Faulkton for the great service and embracing my family when we moved here. I will miss you all, however I will be back visiting. I am excited to be on a new journey, but will definitely miss Faulkton,” stated Hoke.
