Faulk County voters, jail staff excited for the future with new $5.5M facility Brand new Faulk County Jail is complete

Many county jails across the state of South Dakota are close to 100 years old. But, Faulk County's new $5.5 million jail is updated to house more inmates with some brand new technology.

Getting the newest jail in South Dakota started about 9.5 years ago when Sheriff Kurt Hall brought his concerns to the commissioners. The condition of the 1930s jail wasn't the greatest and Sheriff Hall brought bills to show what it would take to keep that facility up.

Commissioners looked at remodeling the old hospital building after a new one was built in Faulkton.
