About FAEDC
Daycare and Afterschool Programs in Faulkton
The Afterschool Program, Junior Program (preschool), and Little Sprouts Daycare are licensed, nonprofit childcare organizations that operate under the umbrella of the Faulkton Area Out of School Program (FAOSP). The FAOSP serves children from birth through age 12. We operate in full compliance with South Dakota Child Care Licensing Rules and are subject to regular, unannounced monitoring and inspection by the Department of Social Services.
We are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environments where children can explore, learn, and build meaningful relationships. Our programs are designed to support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of every child.

Transitions Between Programs:
Children move between programs based on age, developmental readiness, toilet training, and preschool/kindergarten enrollment. The Director will work with the Parents to determine the best transition plan for their child.
Learning Environments:
FAOSP uses a Reggio-inspired approach, which views children as capable, curious learners and emphasizes the environment as a “third teacher.” Our classrooms and outdoor spaces are designed to:
· Encourage curiosity, independence, and creativity
· Provide hands-on experiences with open-ended materials and natural elements
· Display children’s work to make learning visible and valued
· Offer accessible materials so children can make choices, explore interests, and problem-solve
As our Reggio-inspired approach develops, our environments will evolve based on children’s interests, developmental needs, and the culture of our families and community.
