Artist Guido van Helten will begin painting in October
September 8, 2017
Artist Guido van Helten is getting ready for his mural paintings on the elevator.
He spent July in Faulkton visiting, taking photos and touring the area. This is how he readies himself as an artist to paint the murals on the elevator.
Residents have been asking about the murals and “when is the painting going to take place?” That answer is in October. The hold up has been, of course, the paperwork. He was hoping this would not take as long as it has. Mural promotor Dave Hedt stated that “Guido is 100% committed to painting the elevator, as soon as the paperwork is finalized.”
Helten has chosen his theme/subjects and is looking forward to returning to Faulkton. The design will remain undisclosed, until the actual paintings become a reality. The designs must be seen by North Central Farmers Elevator board of directors and approved by them.
Guido will be arriving back in Faulkton sometime the end of September and painting will begin in October.
The process of building the three different viewing stations will start sometime the end of September. They will be located at the retail center, the airport road and at the corner of 8th Ave. and Court Street.
Donations are certainly appreciated and can be made through the Snake Creek Foundation. They can be dropped off at Walkabout Mother Bins office, #7 in the retail center, with a FaulktonArea Arts Council member, or at the Faulkton Area Economic Development office. There will be an acknowledgement board with the main three levels of donations, $500, $1,000 and $2,000.
Painting each side of the elevator will take about five or six days. Three sides of the elevator will be done, the north, west and east sides.
The mural committee praises North Central Farmers Elevator board for allowing the “canvas” (elevator) to be painted. We can’t wait…
