Room for Your Business to Grow… Without Leaving Town

“One of the challenges in a community our size is having available commercial space that allows a business to grow without having to leave town,” said Tiffany Paul of EXP Realty. “A business might start small, but once it becomes successful, it can rapidly outgrow its existing space.”

And in those times, what those businesses need the most is flexibility.

“They need land, buildings, and infrastructure that give them the ability to expand rather than forcing them to relocate to a larger community when they reach that next stage,” she said.

Faulkton has industrial and commercial properties to accommodate any sized expansion, although it’s not just about filling space.

It’s an opportunity to create room for long-term growth for people, businesses, jobs, and development.

“The Industrial Park and the commercial opportunities on the east side give business owners something very important; room to think beyond where they are starting,” she added.

Creating a Path for Businesses to Stay Here

The need for expansion it’s kind of a catch-22; the fact that you’ve outgrown your space is always a good sign for any business. It means it’s growing, succeeding, surviving the odds.

“A business can become successful enough that its location begins limiting what it can do.    Maybe there's not enough storage, parking, workspace or room to add employees or equipment,” said Paul.

Figuring out how, when, and where to expand can tend to cast a shadow on that success, though. There are logistics to consider, the potential of increased costs, the effects of uprooting employees, or any combination of all of the above.

“At that point, a business owner has to decide whether to stay constrained, build, or look elsewhere. That's exactly why planning ahead matters. We don't want a successful local business to reach the point where its only option for growth is to leave Faulkton. By making Industrial Park lots available, the Faulkton Area Economic Development Corporation is helping create a path for those businesses to stay here and continue growing here,” she added.

Creating the Space for Your Business to Thrive Here

Faulkton offers the best of both worlds for someone who sees the value in operating a business in a growing community, and who can see the opportunities that come with being here long term.

“That could be a trades or service-based company, manufacturing, agricultural-related business, storage or distribution, or entrepreneur who has been waiting for the right location to get started,” said Paul.

What excites her the most is the opportunity to bring new business owners into Faulkton.

“New businesses create jobs, services and opportunities, but they also have the potential to bring new people and citizens into our community. Those new citizens breathe fresh life into a town,” she said. “They become homeowners, customers, volunteers, coaches and neighbors.  That's how a community like ours continues to grow.”

Something That’s Difficult to Find in a Larger Community

As a real estate pro with years of experience, she also recognizes that Faulkton offers something that can be difficult to find in a larger community: Connection.

“A business owner here isn't just another storefront or company. They are part of the community,” she says.

There’s value in that; in knowing your customers personally, in having local people actively supporting your business, and being able to build meaningful relationships and a mentoring network with other business owners and community leaders.

But there’s something else that can happen in Faulkton that can be hard to replicate in a larger community.

“There is also an opportunity to truly make an impact,” she says. “When a new business opens or an existing business expands in Faulkton, people notice and people want to see it succeed.  For young professionals especially, Faulkton offers the opportunity to build a career, own a business, and put down roots in a place where they can genuinely be part of the future of the community. “
