Entrepreneurial Showcase

The Faulkton High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) group hosted an “Entrepreneurial Showcase” at the Faulkton School on January 22. The evening featured local youth entrepreneurs along as well as several community business displays. Student entrepreneurs were:
Thomas Newman, Precision Technology: dealing with precision planting techniques;
Tyler Holmberg, Dakota Equipment Manufacturing, Inc.: offering a wide range of services from equipment design and plant layout to custom turn-key crushing and screening operations.
John Cassens, The Madison-Todd Company: featuring original high school band sheet music, new musicals and custom compositions.
Ellen Schlechter, The Calving App: an app that replaces the traditional pen and paper book for more efficient and accessible record keeping.
Mac Lee, online gaming reviews.
The evening provided a format for students to network with people who have greater understanding and experience in the business world as well as networking with their potential customers.
Other community businesses involved included Mean Woman Taxidermy, Animal Health Center, R & R Pheasant Hunting, Burger Shack, 212 Storage and Lodging, Potting Shed, Quilters Corner, King Insurance Agency, Common Sense Manufacturing and VoWac Publishing. The evening provided the students with their first public forum for their business. Mary Schlechter, Business/Computer teacher coordinated the event.
