The mission statement for the Faulkton Area Economic Development Corporation is to “Create, grow and expand opportunities for current and future residents by engaging all of the Faulk County Community.”
Many things are happening in the Faulkton area. The new jail construction is progressing well, the hospital expansion is moving along and in the spring there will be activity on the new housing development and the new industrial park.
We are through the bidding process on the new Industrial Park and the new housing development on the west side of Faulkton and construction hopefully will begin as soon as spring breaks, weather permitting. There was much interest in this housing project and we received nine bids for this project. This development will be 24 lots to provide opportunity for housing growth. If you are interested in a lot, stop by or call the office for more information.
We are looking to start a Revolving Loan Fund for the Faulkton area.We are preparing to apply for a grant with GOED (Governor’s Office of Economic Development) to get that started. This will be used for helping financing business opportunities and supporting existing businesses. That application is due Tuesday, Jan. 31 and we will find out if awarded in March. We are wanting to be a player in helping our businesses grow and with a revolving loan fund that can happen.
The FAEDC annual meeting was held on Dec. 3. This was a celebration of our accomplishments and included planning and charting our path forward. There also was an election of four board of director positions. Linda Bartholomew, Derek Barrios, Cody Cotton and Brandon Spanier have been elected to a three-year term. If you see Jay Jahnig, JodyMoritz and Virgene Wagner, please thank them for their service to the Faulkton Area Economic Development Board. They were great for this community and definitely wanted this community to grow and prosper. A shout out to all those who helped with the meeting including Sharon Huss and Delilah Cotton for making the tables look beautiful, Cheryl Schaefers for providing the food, and Dave Hedt for providing insight into an upcoming project and spearheading the video for the City and Lakeside Golf Course. In closing, we invite and encourage anyone with questions pertaining to the activities of the Faulkton Area Economic Development Corporation to stop by the office, located south of Beadle’sAuto office.
