Wellness Through Recreation Happens in Faulkton

August 6, 2024

As we end National Park and Recreation Month and begin National Wellness Month, this is a great time to highlight the outside beauty Faulkton offers. Whether you want a daytime outing of fun and frolic, a camping outing to connect with nature, or an activity in between, Faulkton has something for everyone.

The Global Wellness Institute defines wellness as having six core pillars:

  • Environmental
  • Social
  • Spiritual
  • Physical
  • Mental
  • Emotional

National Wellness Month promotes giving attention to each core pillar for self-betterment. One of the easiest ways to address each pillar is by visiting parks and recreation centers.

Faulkton’s Parks and Recreation Options

National Park and Recreation Month promoted gratitude for the professionals, staff, and volunteers who help keep parks and recreational facilities safe, clean, and available for the community. Faulkton Area EDC thanks you for your tireless efforts and personal dedication to Faulkton’s residents and visitors.

Visiting one of these spaces and places can bring a sense of peace within and calm to you as part of the self-care wellness goals for August:

  • RV Parks in the city and at Lake Faulkton west of town - Disconnect from the loud electronics and enjoy the solitude.
  • Baseball Complex on 8 Ave. - Be social and have a friendly baseball game with friends or family.
  • City Carousel - Ride the Carousel and revisit your childhood. This month marks the 43rd anniversary of the first free rides.
  • City Park - City Park has six camping spots for a nature day and enjoying the Lions Garden in the park.
  • Hope’s Park and Playground - Enjoy a moment or a few hours watching children play, having lunch with family, listening to music, or simply being. There’s no greater, more infectious sound than a child’s laugh.
  • Faulkton Swimming Pool - Through the middle of August, sitting near a pool, a controlled body of water, can be soothing.
  • Lakeside Country Club - Put business aside for a day as you enjoy the view and walk the greens in a round or two of golf.
  • FLEX Fitness - Nothing screams, “Wellness through recreation,” quite like a gym workout. Sweat away the negative and inhale the positive.

We can’t forget the murals of Faulkton! The murals are wellness-inducing and recreation-worthy, so take a bike ride through the town and see them all. According to mural creator Chuck Bennis of Bennis Art Studios, “Faulkton may have more murals per capita than any other town!”

No matter which activity, space, or place you choose, you are sure to touch on one of the six core pillars of wellness through recreation.
